Petrit Abazi is a curator, writer and art historian with nearly 20 years' experience in exhibition-making in Australia and Europe. Since 2021 he has been Director of the Northern Centre for Contemporary Art (NCCA) in Garramilla/Darwin, on Larrakia Country. Recent highlights include IncarcerNation (2026); Jenna Mayilema Lee: Of Smoke and Rain (2025); Taripang / Dharripa / Trepang (2024); Blak Power: 50 Years of First Nations Superheroes in Australian Art (2023); and Unbordering Worlds: New Narratives for Northern Kosovo, for Manifesta 14 Prishtina (2022).

Born in Kosovo, Petrit holds a BA (Hons.) in Cultural Heritage (Art History) from the University of Trento, Italy, and an MA in Art Curatorship from the University of Melbourne. Before joining NCCA he spent a decade in auction houses and commercial galleries, including as Head of Art & Research at Mossgreen. He has written more than 150 texts on art in English and Italian, and is currently a member of the Northern Territory Minister's Advisory Committee for the Arts and Artlink's Editorial Advisory Group.
